
Despina Katsirea
Despina Katsirea was born in Athens, Greece. She is a qualified lawyer and worked for the Hellenic Tourism Organisation.
Her first literary work appeared in Athens in various literary magazines, (NEA ESTIA, NEA SKEPSH), when still at High School.
Her first book, a collection of short stories was published in Athens in 1973 with great success.
Four volumes of poems followed, one more collection of short stories, and a novel, Mr. Raymond—the latter short listed for the Greek National Literary Award. This book was published in Britain in 1995, meeting also considerable success.
Her work has been published in Belgium and France. She has ready for publication two more novels in English, and three in Greek, working also currently in children’s stories.
Despina recently won the First Prize for poetry at the prestigious competition BRAYONIA 2016.
She writes for Greek and UK publications, and she is a member of the Society of Authors. She is married and lives in Greece and the United Kingdom.
